Maintaining and Improving Environmental Stewardship

Undaunted Stewardship® helps farmers and ranchers adopt land use practices that maintain or improve the environmental health of their landscapes. The program monitors results to enable farmers and ranchers to evaluate their land use practices and make adjustments, as needed, to ensure a healthy environment. Undaunted Stewardship® also helps farm and ranch families provide public access to historic sites located on their private agricultural lands.

Spreading the Word 

The Public Education Program addresses and involves diverse audiences--ranchers, farmers, scientists, educators, government agencies and the general public--to increase understanding of what good stewardship requires, what it accomplishes, where it's being practiced, and to encourage more farms and ranches to adopt land use practices that maintain or improve the environmental health of the landscape. 

Rural Economic Development

The Rural Economic Development Program helps farms and ranches create new businesses such as bed and breakfasts, campgrounds and other outdoor recreation enterprises. These enterprises help ensure the economic sustainability of farms and ranches, thereby preserving open space, natural environments and historic sites found on private agricultural lands.
